Fast Friday July 26, 2013

Fourteen days until Nationals.  Judging by today's practice, I need more, not less, rest.  So I will begin tapering tomorrow.

Shared a lane in the main pool at UT with Jim and Kristy.  Whitney coached.

Warm up:
400 swim, 300 IM (25 stroke/50 drill), 400 pull, 300 IM with fins (25 stroke/50 drill)
Main set (one of my least favorites, by the way):
5 x 100 @ 4:00, from a dive; I felt significant muscle fatigue on these and struggled to hold my stroke together, averaging 1:12s.  My last three dives were very good, however. 
10 minute active recovery
5 x 100 @ 3:00 with fins; I felt a bit better on these and went 1:09, 1:06, 1:06, and 1:06 (missed the send off on number 3 so I took additional rest)
10 minute active recovery

3000 meters, give or take
