So when I became frustrated with how I was training this month, I asked myself whether I need to train more or less. It is a difficult question. I did not feel overtrained, so I decided to try swimming one or two doubles every week. I swam again at Life Time yesterday evening in the indoor 25 meter pool. I warmed up with an easy 400 then swam a set of 5 x 300 @ 5:00. I descended from 4:15 (just slightly faster than the sixth long course 300 yesterday morning) to 4:07, which was a solid effort for the second workout of the day. Total distance for the day was 5500 meters.
This morning I swam at Nitro with Stefan and Jean. Jordan coached. The pool was set up long course. I felt a little tight but overall fairly strong.
400 swim, 400 pull
6 x 150 @ 2:45, 50 free/50 stroke (IM order)/50 free
6 x 50 kick @ 1:15, alternate free/fly
6 x 100 @ 1:30, averaged 1:22, which is better than I had been doing earlier in the month
