Three miles

Swam at Barton Springs yesterday with Lynne (Smith, Channel swimmer), Jack Lee and Henry McCreedy. The water there is a constant 68 degrees which feels pretty good this time of year. We began at 5:30 am when it was still dark and finished around 7:15. We swam a total of 14 laps, 400 meters in length, to equal 5600 meters, my highest total in Masters swimming. Felt like I could have swum a few more laps when we finished.

This morning I swam at Nitro with Tom and Larry, next to Steve, David and Lynne. The pool was set up long course.

  1. Tell us more about Barton Springs. Looks awesome. This is Bill Davis, somehow it is thinking it is my daughters gmail account.

  2. Natural springs, open year round. Great for open water training. The water is clear and cold (68 degrees); you can see fish and plant life as you swim. On summer afternoons the place is packed, but early in the morning it's pretty quiet (but not empty). I'm told (by reliable sources) that some of the sunbathers are topless. An Austin landmark.

  3. That right there is why I will eventually move to Austin, year round open water training location. That is super sweet, I'm very jealous.
